ORMC & Darling Lullabies!
I have some exciting news to share! The Pediatric Department at Orange Regional Medical Center / ORMC in Middletown, NY is now playing Darling Lullabies! The Child Life Department has added my a cappella album to their IPads/IPods as a comfort/distraction technique for emotional support to patients and their families. Feedback overall is that they are “extremely soothing” for the little ones. My heart swoons.
The idea of creating healing music was actually inspired by working in NICU’s and PICU’s several years ago. My sales job gave me the opportunity to work closely with the Child Life Departments at Lurie Children’s Hospital andAdvocate Hope Childrens Hospital in Chicago, as well as Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Madison. It was then that I uncovered clinical data showing how one of my most intimate and sacred forms of singing could perhaps help children, if I could figure out a way to share it. And so, the album idea was born. Having these lullabies played in my first Pediatric Unit brings tears to my eyes – I feel like I have come full circle. What an honor and a blessing. I hope to work with many other hospitals in this same way and am grateful to ORMC for giving me this opportunity!
